Blue Monday - It’s a really great day to divine!
Monday the 17th of January is ‘Blue Monday’ a relatively recent phenomena with a rather spotty history. In 2005 a former lecturer at Cardiff University created a formula for a marketing campaign that used factors such as debt, weather and broken new year’s resolutions to calculate the most depressing day of the year. Apparently it’s the 3rd Monday of January.
Perhaps exactly because January is a cold, dark and sometimes financially difficult month this concept went viral and no matter what the creator Dr, Chris Arnall does to try and distance themselves from the monster it has become it has stuck with us and taken on a life of its own. Even though the poor academic has stated over and over again that the formula he “created” for the travel firm is meaningless this creature just won’t die. After 16 years it’s very likely that it’s here with us to stay.
In an article in the Independant in 2018, Dr Arnall stated that “Whether embarking on a new career, meeting new friends, taking up a new hobby or booking a new adventure, January is actually a great time to make those big decisions for the year ahead.”
IT IS! And Better still we can use divination to help us. If you’ve not already done your year ahead reading why not try the spread below to give you a lift and help you plan for 2022?
You can use pretty much any divination system you like for this, just place the card, charm, ogham, rune or dice (other systems may also work) in the positions on the wheel. The questions themselves are designed to make you think about how you can positively move forward when you feel blocked, but they can also have a dual meaning. Each position relates to the quarter of the year they sit in. So position 1 will also give you general guidance for January to March, position 2 for April to June, position 3 for July to September and position 4 for October to December.
Let me know how you get on.
Much love
